How can I import my notes from Apple Notes?

Apple provides notoriously limited export options for Apple Notes. The only officially supported option is to export each note one-by-one as a PDF file.

Luckily, there are third-party tools that make this process much easier.

To import your notes from Apple Notes:

  1. Download Exporter  from the Mac App Store.
  2. Follow the app's instructions to convert your Apple Notes into plain text files.
  3. Use our plaintext converter tool to convert your files. Click "Choose Files", then select all the files you exported.
  4. A new, single file will be generated, which can then be imported into Standard Notes. Import this file by using the Standard Notes web or desktop app, and clicking "Account" in the lower left corner, then clicking "Import From Backup".
